Who we are

At Rotaract Club of Kampala East, service is at the heart of everything we do. Commonly known as The Great Lakers, we are a dynamic community of young professionals and changemakers aged 18 to 30, dedicated to leadership, service, and personal growth. Chartered in 2013 and officially registered as Rotaract Kampala East Limited in 2023, our club has spent over a decade transforming lives and strengthening communities through impactful projects.

We meet every Tuesday from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Hotel Africana, where we connect, plan, and take action to create real change—both locally and beyond.

Honoring Our Parent Club

Rotary Club of Kampala East: Our Proud Foundation

The Rotary Club of Kampala East came into being on March 10th March, 1987, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kampala West. It was however not until March 5th 1988 that it was admitted into Rotary International and Chartered on May 5th1988.

Rotarian Paul Masembe-Nteyafa (RIP) was the Charter President and there were 35 Charter members. 7 of these Charter members are still in the Club. Rotary Club of Kampala East (RCKE) holds it’s lively and vibrant weekly Rotary Club meetings every Thursday at Hotel Africana, Kampala at 1900 hours. Currently, the Club has a total membership of 57 comprising 35 males (61.4%) and 22 females (38.6%).

The Club President for 2024/25 is Rotarian Jacqueline Mali. The President Elect is Rotarian Rodney Twagarukaho Baganda for the Rotary Year 2025/2026 and the President Nominee is Rotarian Mindra Katoroogo for the Rotary Year 2026/2027.
